Best equalization I've been able to achieve on pocket device is by way of using desktop PC equalizer before encoding to MP3 for use in a portable. Vogue's 400 MHz processor (dual 200s) is really not capable of decoding to WAV and EQing while staying in contact with phone tower, Internet, GPS, etc. all at once. Some people have achieved acceptable results simply by purchasing a high quality set of earbuds.
