I'm having this issue also, but it only seems to happen the first time I open SMS or bring focus back to SMS. If SMS is already in focus, it's fine.

I'd like this too. It was nice having a hardware button mapped to the camera on the last ROM. Does anyone else's camera seem a little laggy? It seems to snap pictures a little slower than the last ROM.
Great ROM otherwise! I'm loving Gmail push too! Just applied it today and already my battery life has seemed to improve.
