It's a little long winded, but may help others in the same boat.
Since I bought my Sprint Touch Pro I had it working on the Verizon network for about 9 months now. It showed up on My Verizon account as a generic "Grandfathered" device. I had NO problems with it that whole time.
Last week, I bought the Touch Pro2, so I tried to switch the old Touch Pro over to my wife's line.
It wouldn't allow it.
So I called customer service and tried to get the device added to the network like everyone suggested in numerous posts.
The first time it didn't work. The service rep tried to get it added. Asked me questions about where I got the phone, what model it was, etc. she talked to technical reps while I was on hold... The conversation ended with her explaining to me that she was told the device isn't allowed on the network because it doesn't have 911 service. Pleaded with her about how I had it on the network for over half a year, didn't help. She said it's just not allowed.
I sat there for an hour trying to figure out what she meant and what I'm going to do with the phone now. Return it to stock programming for Sprint and sell it, I guess.
That's when I figured out what she was talking about. 911 is a service through Verizon much like 611 or *228.
I called customer service USING THE TOUCH PRO PHONE'S 611, just for emphasis to explain to the rep that the phone is ALREADY PROGRAMMED FOR THE VERIZON NETWORK.
"I'm talking to you on the phone right now.", I said.
This seemed to be the clincher, because as soon as the tech knew of this, they made a "ticket" for the phone to be added to their network.
Less than 24 hours later, I was able to add the phone myself through the My Verizon "activate your phone" link. This went very smoothly. Once the phone was accepted, I was able to dial *228 option 1, and the phone was working almost perfect. I did however HAVE to add the data plan to complete the activation.
MMS, Data, and Voice are all working fine, however I did have a constant roaming triangle, even after updating with *228 option 2.
To get rid of the triangle icon, I had to manually add the 51425m PRL.
Done.
Sprint Touch Pro is back on Verizon working 100%.
