Is there any special technique/method I should follow when charging the phone for the first time?

It's the initial charge that is the biggest influencer of a rechargeable's overall life (unless you totally abuse it of course). While there are varying opinions and different chemistry batteries vary here and there, the initial charge is mission critical. I've read too many articles in trade magazines and been selling rechargeables for CE devices for a good decade or so now - please do yourself and your battery the justice and give it that full charge first.
Good luck with the new one, and I like your sig, especially the Nynex... boy, where did they go (and can we blame it all on that phone?)
