Actually, DCD mentioned the kitchen wouldn't be getting the same amount of updates as the ROMs would, remember?
The original intention was that the Kitchen was here for chefs to use as a base in case they want to make and distribute their own based on DCD's work. It was never meant for end users (hence why he chose to go with the gui-less version).
End users are encouraged to download his rom and any cabs they wish to install from his ftp- DCD has done some fantastic work creating installable .cabs for the things we normally cook in (manilla, volume control, etc) so that we can choose whether we want something or not while using the rom... and there is no need to reflash.
I've got to admit, I used to be a kitchen junkie, but after talking to DCD I decided to try it his way... and I'm starting to wonder why we bother so much with kitchens and OEMs the way we do lately!
In fact, just today I decided I didn't like the way HTC Volume control takes over the whole screen when adjusting. So, I wanted to see what it would be like for a day with the old volume control- it was as easy as clicking "remove programs" and finding the proper entry on the list.
And I know I can put it back whenever I want.
Clearly, most of this thread is disregarding his advice... maybe its just me, but all I see in this thread is people discussing how to make OEMs from other kitchens work in this one. DCD has pretty much said he won't be updating the kitchen for minor updates, so if you like his roms and want to keep up, I suggest trying it his way.
I'm debating starting a thread about cabs (I made a post about it on this thread but I don't think I can go back and edit it with new links since I've found more on my list).
