I can't be sure of the exact reason, but when I looked the VZW press release, it specifies a MSM 7600A processor @ 528 Mhz, whereas the Sprint version has a plain MSM 7600 @ 528 Mhz.

As far as I know, the 'A' suffix indicates a smaller die-size, which translates to a more efficient processor.

This may or may not explain the 1.3 hour (32.5%) increase in talk time.
