Re: Verizon Wireless Touch Pro2 to land September 11th, $199.99 WTF?!?!?

I want it now but I'll never have it. I posted this a while back but I still feel like I'll never catch the dragon...

In terms of Blackberries, the people who I know who've upgraded from a complete 'dumb-phone' to BB are right, the thing is great! It does everything they could ever want from a phone!

The problem is they have no idea what else a mobile device can do. Yes I'll shortly have the HTC Rhodium which is sold by Verizon as the TouchPro2 or 6875, so yes it comes with a cell-phone radio too. A blackberry wouldn't have the appeal if it couldn't connect wirelessly. The iPhone straddles that fence with the iPod Touch, but how's that doing versus the iPhone? I have a friend with an iPod Touch who still uses his older iPod 80GB.

The phone we're all hoping for is a different breed. Some kid sitting home on a Friday night can't just open the same programming language he used to make some craptastic program on his computer and suddenly write something for the iPhone or Palm, BB or whatever easily. With WM the kid has a brainfart and suddenly we've got the next killer app for $0.

I've had this arguement with too many friends and co-workers who don't understand why I don't need a Netbook. I have a full sized laptop, a desktop (rarely used anymore except for backup and Terabytes of storage) and then my phone; which does pratically anything either of the other devices would do. Why would I want a PC and then buy an iPhone so I fumble through 2 interfaces, neither of which that user likely knows down cold? It just does not make sense.... but these people who tell us their phones are better of course don't know any better, so just smile and nod, smile and nod....

So there's my $.02 for the day!
