Maybe it's your computer and not the card. Can you define your computer locking up? Do you need to reboot via the power button (e.g., freeze) or do you get a BSOD, or what? I do know that the first time you connect is as a USB drive, your computer will take a minute or so to install the required driver in order for it to work, so you have to be patient while it does that.
