Is your device overheating ? My device overheats with extended tethering (About 45 minutes or so with multiple devices connected) and causes it not to charge and other oddities. After it cools down everything comes back to life and works properly.

So the question is, Does the keyboard come back to life after you stop tethering for a while ? That would definitely be a indicator that the device is shutting down processes because of the heat.

If you plan to do extended tethering, what I found helps is taking the back cover off and putting a small fan on faced at the device..
