to be honest when i first charged up my phone for the first time, I did it with the power cord/adapter/phone method till I read the manual and tried to directly plug in the charger to the phone. I was like this is kinda dumb that I need an adapter but hey this is my first PDA phone and the socket on the phone does not exactly look like the mini-USB plug shape =P but after that initial charge, i was all good. =) still learning all the ropes though
