Ok try disabling USB in activesync Place the phone in bootloader the SPL should be SPL 2.31.Coke.
Then plug into the USb cable. At the bottom Serial should change to USB, then try running the RUU update utility that was erroring. If these steps don't work try flashing the sprint OEM ROM and then trying it all over again insuring that you have a activesync connection.
