Yeah, NYC Guy... don't even bother. If you're on PPCGeeks you're gonna eventually start flashing ROMs and you'll probably be on WM6.5.1 before Win6.5 even comes out
You can use Sashimi or UC to make scripts (very easy) to install all of your programs and settings each time you flash. Read up on UC here:

And as for backing up your contacts... I personally use (and prefer, because of wireless sync) Microsoft MyPhone. But if you don't want to use that, you can always use something along the lines of PIMBackup.
