Not sure if this is the right place to ask but it seems like the right place at the right time:

Since coming to 6.5 months ago I have been experiencing disappearing apps that I sure don't recall in 6.1. Specifically, having, say, a media player of some sort playing music then doing something else such as Google Maps, Opera, whatever and the music apps stops. Doesn't seem limited to specific apps though. It's just hard to keep things active in the background.

I've heard that 6.5 in general is over-zealous in its memory management and is to blame. I'm wondering how true it is and if some ROMs seem to be better than others at keeping background apps working.
