Yahoo mobile is more finger friendly and easier to read, and we're talking about
http://www.yahoo.com/m, not mail.yahoo.com.
Yahoo mobile does work on my stock ROM with Opera 8.65, so it's definitely something in the user agent string in Opera 9.5 (stock) that's tripping it up on their side.
