From what I can remember HTC did release rom update for the Tytn II which included the drivers, but did not include it in the AT&T Tilt (from now on tis all *guess* work) which is same device, this may mean the the license on the drivers may have limitations like per country/distributor and etc...aka if a TP2 came out in 4 carriers, they may need 4 separate licenses. Also I think the drivers did not work natively on the AT&T tilt either but were token apart and helped develop drivers on xda.

HTC probably buys the MSM7XXX series because they are cheap and Qualcomm probably makes most of its money on the license.

But at this point the ATI Imageon is nothing that impressive and with introduction of snapdragon, I cant see why HTC can't convince Qualcomm to discount the license to the drivers.

And there is my rambling on the licensing issue >.>
Yeap ... I have hear that cellular bussness are like that... shame ... also i dont think the ATI Imageon is a great, comparing it with what is comming (tegra.. as I dont think snapdragon is going to have 3d drivers again.. they may stumble with the same type of licence that the MSM7xxx have)...
Also Shame on Microsoft for not trying to force a minimun user experience... (that may change with WM7) 3d drivers my be are requirement.. but for now we are stuck with crippled hardware...

I am trying to decide if i go with the omnia II or the TP2 ... but it is realy dificult the only points that the onmina have that i want is the 3d aceleration and AMOLED) ...

Have any of you tryed the 3d drivers (last version) and tryed some 3d programs like tomtom, igo or garmin and see if there is some improvement ?
