The problem with the license is its a bit more "complicated"...

From what I can remember HTC did release rom update for the Tytn II which included the drivers, but did not include it in the AT&T Tilt (from now on tis all *guess* work) which is same device, this may mean the the license on the drivers may have limitations like per country/distributor and etc...aka if a TP2 came out in 4 carriers, they may need 4 separate licenses. Also I think the drivers did not work natively on the AT&T tilt either but were token apart and helped develop drivers on xda.

HTC probably buys the MSM7XXX series because they are cheap and Qualcomm probably makes most of its money on the license.

But at this point the ATI Imageon is nothing that impressive and with introduction of snapdragon, I cant see why HTC can't convince Qualcomm to discount the license to the drivers.

And there is my rambling on the licensing issue >.>
