All, I just wanted to drop a quick update on this situation after speaking to a few peers using other model phones. In short, this is normal behavior and the limitiations of Exchange 2007. I'm hoping in future updates that some type of smart tagging can be used or intelligence that would relay the total unread messages regardless of where they reside on your account. Or at the very least, allow you to turn this function on/off.
