You might want the OEM HTC 1800mah battery; I haven't seen it on Ebay but there are some merchants who sell it online. It's a much more reasonable size than the 3000mah one and the battery door hump is gradual so the door is less likely to fly off when you take it out of your pocket.

My personal preference is for a slightly larger phone than for carrying around external chargers (like the Motorola p790) or spare batteries which require a reset to swap out, but everyone feels differently about this.
