Agreed that caution should still be observed. nuePowerCPL has the temperature reading for the battery, but it may not work while in disabled mode.
Since we know it's not the battery that gets hot, we'd be more likely to see smoked radio chips, not an exploding battery. Most li-on batteries DO have built in thermal circuit protection as a redundancy. Testing is the only way to know.

my VZN TP doesnt shut down charging till at least 40*c right now sitting on my hip its running at 30*c. plus, 30*c is only 86*F 40*c is 104*F and i have seen mine as high as 50*c so thats 122*F.
