I don't have any experience with the Alltel Touch Pro, but it seems similar to the Sprint version. Recently my Sprint Touch Pro (hacked to work on Verizon) keyboard started having issues so I was forced to pickup the Verizon version to tie me over until the TP2 comes out. And let me tell you, it was a major let down.
Verizon:
keyboard sucks: I can't get used to the arrows being between the M & N.
memory: it always runs out of memory unless I turn off TF3D & disable the HTC dialer.
screen: it looks really washed out compared to the Sprint version which is bright and crisp. it also has an oily film look in day light and the back light has a sort of "buzzing" look to it.
speed: because of the lack of memory the whole thing runs really slow
size: it's actually taller than the Sprint version and is more brick like
looks: it looks like a cheap toy. the Sprint version looks hot with it's combination of chrome, black and gray.
The whole thing is just a total POS IMO.
The Sprint TP had it's own set of issues:
battery cover: is flimsy and makes creaking noises when the keyboard is extended and I'm typing.
screen: after months of use starts to get loose between the screen and keyboard.
chrome: mine cracked around the volume button without dropping or having had any impact. it just started to crack and then a big chunk fell off of it.
keyboard: stopped working
dust: when this thing came out, I exchanged it several times because they all had dust under the screen & dead pixels.
T-Mobile TP2:
In the week I've had this thing, I have to say, from a hardware standpoint, this thing is rock solid! I really don't see it breaking down over time, and I'm hoping the Verizon version continues that tradition. I really hope Verizon let HTC use the best of everything & didn't sacrifice quality to save a few dollars. For example, I really hope the screen isn't washed out like the TP is. Obviously there are different screens these guys choose, because there is a significant difference between the Sprint TP & the Verizon TP.
