Not sure if this will cause more issues for me than what it's worth but... I went ahead and used gwes from 23031 dropped it into 23034 and now am able to type without the few millisecond delay and so far all seems good.
I posted the double tap fix which applies to the on screen keyboard in the black dragon rom thread
