The GPS would not be directly built into to the CPU but a separate hardware in the phone, you are a long the right tracks though. The GPS is probably a very CPU intensive hardware/software piece. Most likely these little CPU's really aren't built to what we make and want our hardware and software to run out. Thus the little fusses of technology! Cool?

I guess I was saying something like that, but my reasoning comes from the mogul a few years ago. When the mogul was released there were many threads that talked about the mogul being torn to pieces and that no one could find the gps chip so therefore it didn't have a-gps. But soon after(january2008 I think) someone by the name of kmartburrito(I think that was his name) had a leaked rom/radio that unlocked the gps function of the mogul. Soon after sprint released their official upgrade. So I guess I thought there was some integration since no one could find the gps chip on the mogul before the gps function was unlocked.
