They won't let you add insurance unless you take it to a repair center and show the repair center the phone first to see that it's not damaged. So, no, wouldn't be fraud but the repair center won't verify it's not already damaged.
I had the same thing happen to me, that's why I know. I swear I asked for insurance and noticed 2 months in that there was no insurance on the phone, the CSR Supervisor finally agreed to let me add insurance but only if I took it to a repair center first and THEY called in to verify the phone was fine.
WHY would someone not take insurance for a $500 phone? Wow, now you're going to have to buy a new phone.
