Re: [ ROM ] [ KITCHEN ] JUICY 8 - Build 090723 (21828.5.0.60) [UC]

Regarding Alltel Touch Pro's phone service

I have a weird problem, and it's not psychological (this time).

I installed this ROM yesterday and I LOVE it! This is my first ROM install and I'm happy I took the time to learn about it, and to find this great ROM. Thanks Juicy!

Now my problem. I installed it late last night and took off to a friend's house after seeing that most of the features worked correctly. I sent a few texts and received them back, no problem. My data connection also worked great. Around 1:30 or so my phone service quit working. Texts would not send and so I tried to call out. I got an automated message from something like "America's Roaming Network" which asked if I wanted to make a collect call, etc. So I went to sleep. This morning I tried again with a different result. I got three tones + "We're sorry... your call did not go through..." bullsh*t. The data connection still works, and my bill is up to date.

I fear this may have something to do with a remote software upgrade that was scheduled to be implemented last night around the time this started happening. I figured it would sort itself out overnight. Obviously I was wrong!

Anyone with Alltel/Verizon have this same problem?? I want to avoid returning to stock SPL and ROM if possible, partly because I've never done it before and it scares me. I have an email making its way through Alltel's customer service, but who knows when I'll get a response. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

EDIT: After talking with Alltel low-level technical service people, I have two choices: reinstall the stock ROM and call back to try to upgrade the software manually, or wait until tomorrow when the smart people arrive.

SOLUTION: After reinstalling the stock ROM (found at http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42741) I was able to manually upgrade the MDIN and MSID numbers with the assistance of Alltel tech support. I'm now able to send and receive calls and SMSs (and I assume MMSs). Soon as Juicy updates that link, I should be good to go.....! F5 F5 F5 F5 F5
