The data plans work well if you live in an area where actual EVDO is available. (I'm out in Sioux Falls where all the sprint towers here are owned by an affiliate and we're stuck with 1xRTT till they fork out the 10,000,000 on the new system) On the plus side if you have wifi readily available, that's good, then you could probably get by with just using that. (Luckily there's wifi readily available where I live...so I don't have to suffer from 1xRTT.)
