Manual hard reset - Hold Vol down and enter (center button) and push the soft reset button. Continue to hold down the Vol down and enter buttons until screen asks "this operation will delete all personal data......"
I have seen that some people say that doesn't work for sprint TP. Some say turn phone OFF, then hold VolDown, enter and press power key to get "delete data" screen.

I just got off the phone with Sprint and they walked me through doing this for my HTC Touch Pro. Here is what I did:
1) Open the phone dialer and enter ##786#
2) This opens a statistics screen with a bunch of info
3) in the lower right hand corner, click menu, then choose "Reset"
4) A pop-up will open asking for a code. They told me to enter "838424"
Pretty sure the code they mentions is the MSL code. I have a program to get that from your phone if you need it.
