I changed my Opera icon and this is what my registry looked like:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\ Opera Browser.lnk]
"Icon"="
\\My Storage\\Program Files\\reSTART\\icons\\Opera.png"
"Rank"=dword:000003C3
So it appears to save the icon, and the "rank" which I believe is the order it's in on the menu. As long as your icons are on your MY STORAGE, then they should stay there during a flash.
