How to stream media off the network

I'm aware of ORB and TVersity, but I'm not impressed with the web interface. Is there a way to play and browse through my humongous media collections including playlists, ratings, etc using a program like Conduits Pocket Player? I don't care for video files as much because they may not transcode as fast as audio files.

I should mention I have a 500 gb NAS Linkstation hard drive that houses all my media and is connected to my home network.
