Why do I have to reset after using network??

I'm using a cooked (Helmi kitchen) ROM on my Verizon XV6700. Everything was fine for many months. But all of a sudden, I notice that after using the network connection to check email (Sync over-the-air with Exchange server in the ActiveSync app) or to access Sirius radio stream, I can't do it again without rebooting. If I run Sirius, it launches the Mediaplayer but no sound comes out. If I run Activesync and select Sync, it just quits (no error). If I launch PIE, it quits also. If I go to the Comm Manager, my "data connection" tab is grayed out! The only way to fix it is to reboot, after which it works. Before I hard-reset and restore from an (old...) backup, can anyone suggest a fix - why is it doing this?

thanks in advance,

Mike
