Yep those preferences are the first things I disabled when I installed Android. Its true, it probably saves around 50% of your batt. life.
My phone is about 10 hours in right now and the battery is at 6% now. I think in winmo i'd still have about 20-30% left right now.
EDIT:: Wow, when android says my battery is dead and shuts off and I plug it in to charge, it just jumps to 50%... how can this be? (I verified in winmo that the battery is actually dead).
Could Panel type in default.txt have anything to do with this?
