Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

Thought I'd share my "No Clean Up" method. This method conserves on dye, save pots from damage and requires very little clean up.

Here's what you need:
(1) Bottle of liquid RIT Dye (used liquid due to it being concentrated)
(1) Medium Size Pot
(1) Measuring Cup
(1) Ziplock Bag
(1) Touch Pro Battery Cover (Clean with soap and water prior to following the below.)

1. Boil pot of water on high till you see small bubble appear on the bottom of pot.
2. Lower heat to low setting.
3. Microwave 1 1/2 Cup of water in measuring cup and pour into Ziplock Bag.
4. Add 1/4 of the bottle of dye to water in bag and mix. More dye maybe need if you wand a darker shade of the color you selected.
5. Open baggie with Dye mix and add the cover, seal and drop baggie in to pot.
6. Let pot sit on low heat with biggie for 15 minutes slowly stirring the entire time. May require more time if you want a darker shade of the color you selected.
7. Remove baggie and place in sink. Run cold water to cool bag and contents.
8. Remove cover and rinse under cold water.
9. Use dish towel or any soft cloth to buff for 10 minutes. An old white sock is idea because you will see any rub-off. it should be minor. buffing is what really makes this work. think of it as a buff job on a freshly painted car.

Notice that no dye ever touches the pot and the amount of mixure made is small compared to a whole pot of this dye mix. Clean up is a breeze.

Did my first cover 3 weeks ago and experince no ruboff on sweaty hands and it's been 90 plus here for some weeks. My cover looks as if it came from HTC.

P.S. Avoid harsh cleaners and chemicals. Stick to a microfiber cloth and give her a good rub down.

Now I'm off to sprint to pick-up another cover. This was too easy not to have some variety... ;O)

Enjoy!!!
