how do i get the phone to lock when the backlight goes out? i may just be retarded, but i cant find any settings beyond long press end key

thus far ive been using s2u2, but more and more when i unlock it i do so to a mostly blank screen. the top row of icons and two soft keys will be there, but no main screen. sometimes it will come up after 30-60s, other times i have to soft reset the device. anyone else having similar issues?
