Re: Moving to Omnia from HTC XV6700?

Yes, you probably already have been there by now, but in case you haven't, go to the Omnia thread and at the very top you will find ROM updates. That contains all the (PDA portion) updates that you will want. Prior to that, find the ROM update with UMDA software that you load onto your PC. Follow all the instructions from idoctor, including the fact that to shut the Omnia off you hold the power button down until it powers off completely. and inversely when you are updating the ROM when it asks you to turn the phone on, you must hold the power button until it activates again. You have to disable usb connection on active sync on the PC and go to usb connections on your phone and uncheck activesync (choose the other option, which I forget what it is) You have to read a thousand posts first so you are comfortable with doing this. Once you have the ROM updated you may want to go and update the PDA portion. Trust me, you do want this. Makes the Omnia a zillion times better. There are options here and you really need to read a ton of threads to make the right decision. I like Adrynelyn's M2D ROM. You will use the same UMDA software on your PC to do the PDA upgrade. I had the 6700 and it was a brick. I also did the ROM on it back in the day. This is easier. You can even try your hand at the kitchens that are available. I haven't done that.
