But, for whatever it's worth, I just made a post this morning in Adryn's ROM thread showing how to use Sashimi to automatically backup your programs AND SETTINGS!!
It used to take me over an hour to install my 30+ programs and 50+ settings. Now it takes less than 20 minutes.

I might check that out. SPB Backup has a ROM Upgrade setting to restore backup data, for what it's worth. I haven't tried it yet.
