XV6700 and XV6800 were the same way right up until their successors launched.
As for inventory, it's relatively meaningless, since Verizon will just dump remaining Touch Pros into a box (a big one) for insurance replacements as the TP2 release gets closer.

I got my touch pro for around 235 from best buy. They don't do mail in rebates so you get that 100 off right away. They also had some type of deal going on for smartphones when i bought mine and i was also elidgable for my 150 off. I got one hell of a deal and will be getting the same type of deal this year. With the exception of the smartphone discount i got last year. Unless they have another type of promotion
