Well for the htc task manager I abandoned that all together. It always boggs my roms down that I cook. I use handyswitcher from dinarsoft for wmo 6.5. Works great but its not free. http://www.dinarsoft.com/handyswitcher/

For your usbtopc not working I have never had this problem. You may want to check your start/settings/connections and then usb to pc and make sure the box is checked ask me first about usb connection type when I connect the device to the pc.
