Yes, if you initiated from online and/or they reply, tap the SMS button in "one dialer" & select the text message to continue conversation.
One Dialer will allow you to start a new SMS or continue one. Not sure what is stopping you. To initiate a new SMS you must dial the number 1st, then press the SMS button to start a message. To continue an ongoing msg, make sure the dial area is clear and just hit SMS to go back to the text and reply.
