I found that opening SMS is also slow but if open from TF3D mode, for example when it pops up the persons picture and card info, the SMS is much faster.. faster typing just seems slower sending.
Therefore, I try to use the TF3D SMS rather than the windows mobile SMS.. if that makes sense
