I was doing the steps you mentioned but internet explorer kept popping up.
I followed the link above for help with the manual settings.
to stop internet explorer from popping up I typed
'
myemail@h.com ' since typing @hotmail.com at the end made the annoying automatic mode to kick in .
manual email entering mode is was what I needed.
works fine now
