I tried to find but i failed in understanding how the png's and those files for which they show up in the start menu are related/linked coz i want to make icons for the this older stuff and make my ROM look a little better.
Can anybody throw some light on this issue?

there are two ways that i know of to change the icons. one is through registry edit where you assign you custom png pics to each thing, i posted how in my kitchen thread

the way i do the icons for my apps is this....first find the images you want to use for your icons, put them all in a dll file. then place your dll file in the windows directory. get sktools(freeware) and it will allow you to map your .lnk's to the pics in the dll you created. then use total commander to copy/paste your .lnks from the start menu to your storage card. from there you can take the lnks and put them in each ext folder for the apps
hope this helps.
