however customizable winmo is, can be a blessing and a curse. onscreen keyboard? thats user preference. windows mobile, apple, android, and blackberry are all "terrible" then, at least the phones that have an onscreen keyboard, right? like the blackberry storm, tmobile G2, HTC Touch Diamond/Diamond2, HTC Hero, etc, and not to mention the countless number of touchscreen only phones from samsung, lg and each respective carrier, etc.
how many consumers would prefer to just sit there and customize each single aspect of the phone, vs the people who would rather forego all that and just have a great experience out of the box and dont really need to mess with anything because it just works? thats probably what drew most peoples' attention to the iphone. its fast, easy to use/operate, and it freaking just works. for the people using it, it is literally a one touch swipe/press to whatever you need.
you could argue that the touch pro has a removable battery, physical keyboard, microSD, LED flash, while apple takes ages to get on with features themselves (look how long it took to get a video camera? but its so nice to use/edit video now compared to most phones, not to mention the resolution is WAY better and its so easy to upload). but thats the thing, most of the people i know quickly got over the lack of major features (again, like i said, somewhat resolved with the 3.0 software update) because they were too impressed with how the iphone is with everything else.
while i love my iphone, i still like windows mobile. its just that windows mobile needs to SERIOUSLY step it up, or else people will look elsewhere for their o/s of choice.
