Just a copy of my post on xda:

I don't know if FingerKeyboard is still being developed, but I found registry keys that can be used to make a button to toggle between XT9 and ABC.

I prefer FingerKeyboard over EzInput because FK is faster, much faster, but the lack of a toggle button hampers its usability.

The two registry keys in question are in \HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\IME. ContextAwareSetting must be set to 0, and then TextInputMode can be toggled to turn XT9 on and off.

Of course, for all this to work, XT9SupportMSSip must be set to 1.

Now the thing is, TextInputMode flicks itself to 0 sometimes when switching apps. A toggle button on the keyboard would be a good solution. If the current keyboard can modify registry keys through key presses, we can already implement this. If not, then I hope a new version of FK which can will be released.
