One of the better ROMs is NFSFAN's. As far as I know, this ROM has not caused phone lockup. It is possible that the flash did not go correctly. I would try the hard reset and flash it again. Once flashed, do a soft reset. Worked for me. Sorry you are having such difficulty with it. You might want to go over to XDA forum. Many of the users there have flashed NFSFAN's ROM without difficulty.
