I used my phone for about an hour or two last night and went through every app. Opera, PIE, WLive (GPS Test), Messenger, Album, Skyfire, Contacts, Youtube, Calendar, Activesync (Exchange 2k3). Installed SPB MS3. Added contacts and facebook linking. The ROM performed quickly and without error. I didn't experience any lockups.

Make sure you two are flashing back to shipped/official ROM, first. Then flash the new one. Also, try installing one app/theme at a time to determine what might be conflicting. I know using any type of "restore" program can create some trouble.
