Waze: Way to Go

Saw this over at 1800, did a search came up with nothing...thought I'd post it. It looks kinda cool. It's just now in alpha so, Im not sure how good it will wirk, but like I said it looks cool.

Waze is here for Windows Mobile and Symbian users, Waze is the first free turn-by-turn GPS app that uses crowd sourcing to detect real time traffic conditions. Users can also communicate information to each other about whats happening on the road (police, accidents, construction, cheap gas etc) straight from their phones in real time.
Right now they are looking for alpha testers in the US who would be interested in trying the app before a public version goes online. Users can register for the alpha here: http://www.waze.com/alpha_register/
If you give it a shot let us know about your opinion about the app.

Go here to see a video of Waze.

Cab added...Looks like Yibrushn got the cab on here first...:)

I had to change my review because of the new version that is out now. It is soooooo much fun to play with on the road, it's still early in it dev stages, but it is really cool. The only downside I see so far, is the gas wasting it is going to cost me, everytime I see a road, I have to turn down it and collect the points. It's very fun a useful now. Two thumbs up! :thumbleft::thumbleft:

They are following me on Twitter - other than that no. I'm wondering if this will have voice prompts because I find the idea behind this very interesting although I am a little concearned about it ability to distract.

Oh just read they are only looking for GSM testers. Sigh. I love the concept of this but I keep getting denied.

Rats! us cdma folks are just as good! I would bet money that there are more Sprint and Verizon winmo users then ATT and T-mobile :-\

Google maps and Sprint nav are much better than Waze.

The point system is kindof addictive in waze :). I keep wanting to drive down streets that no one with waze has driven down. It's definitely alpha though, but I see a ton of potential.

So is this app built just for getting real time traffic from users or is it also a turn by turn navigation app with voice? Or at least have the map always the direction you're going facing north?

Two main things missing from Bing app (formerly Livesearch). And yeah, Bing app is still the best free GPS navigation app.
