How to make WMDC not sync at random?

How do you make WMDC NOT synchronize randomly? I'll be connected to my laptop, having successfully synced just a minute ago, and WMDC will try to sync and look for changes a second time, for no apparent reason. Nothing has changed during that time period. Everything was idle. This slows down my Mogul to a crawl and also affects the connection to my laptop when I have PDANet. Sometimes I just get disconnected, broken bluetooth connection to the lappy, broken wifi connection to the lappy, whatever. Is there an option to ONLY sync when the user manually pushes the sync button? It does this over and over. Within a span of 10 minutes it might start to "look for changes" 5 or so times, with no changes found each time.

And when I try to modify the WMDC settings so that nothing syncs, it wants to delete all the data on my lappy that has already been synced... WTF?! Why? I want to keep all my contacts and notes and tasks that had been previously synced. I don't even get an option?

I sync via an exchange server, so I have not dealt with the randon syncing.

I do know that WMDC sometimes has a mind of its own, so good luck in getting this corrected.
