Re: Market Auto Upgrade?

I just switched from an iPhone a few days ago (I was mugged at gunpoint and it was stolen), and I'm curious, do all of the apps auto-update (or at least tell you automatically that updates are available) without have to load the app to find out?

Its up to you...it notifies you when you have updates when you go to the market...but there is an option for auto-update if you want

Re: Market Auto Upgrade?

Thank you gTen. I think it may be in my best interest to actually read the book that's in the box. I opted to skip that thinking a lot of things would be straight-forward, but unfortunately they are not (with everything). I may just get in the habit of going to the Marketplace at night when I plug the phone in to charge.

I take it the OTA update to Froyo will be automatic (or I'll get a txt msg)?

Welcome to PPCGeeks. If this is your first Android phone then reading the book might be of some use, although it doesn't go into great detail on how the operating system works. Its more oriented towards what the buttons do and how to change the battery, that sort of thing. I did a quick Google search and came up with these sites that might help:

The Beginner’s Guide to Android | Best Android Apps Review

Beginner's Guide To Android | Androinica

Those, and others that are out there should help, but nothing can substitute for just sitting down and playing with your phone. Most of your common questions have probably already been answered either here or on xda-developers:

Samsung Epic 4G - xda-developers.

Once you get comfortable with the stock OS check out the Wiki we have here and you can start getting into what really makes Android phones great - the ability to customize it to your liking.

Sprint Epic 4G Wiki

Jump down to section 3. General and go from there (a lot of what's in the first 2 sections is outdated and needs a facelift). Before you root your phone, I highly recommend you read everything in there, and then read it again.

Good luck and welcome to your new addiction. And remember, if you ever need help just ask. There are a lot of folks here who are both willing and able to handle just about anything you can come up with.

Well put JB! Doing a simple search and reading first is always a good start. However, as you pointed out, there are plenty of people willing to help when needed. That being said, Welcome to the community CyberSpy!

Happy Holiday's Everyone!

Re: Market Auto Upgrade?

*thinking* if I had an iphone and was mugged at gunpoint... really it had to be a perfectly good reason to switch just as much as I hated it. *thinking* hmmm But why did you switch?
