Fix For CF03 SMS Message Bug

To those suffering from the SMS 'unread' bug in CF03, here's how to fix it:

1) Get yourself a file explorer that can overwrite ROM files. The file explorer that comes with the phone can't do this. I use Resco Explorer, although you can also use Total Commander (it's free!)

2) Download the SMSTrigger.zip file attached to this post, then save it to your phone

3) Using Resco or Total Commander or whatever you're using, extract the contents of the SMSTrigger.zip file to the \Windows directory ON THE DEVICE (not the \Windows folder in 'My Storage')

4) If all went as planned, you will get a warning to overwrite the SMSTrigger.exe file. Say 'Yes'

5) Re-boot and have someone send you a long messgage to test

I had someone send me a large text message that was broken into 4 parts. I only had to go into it once to clear my new text message count.

For a second test I had someone send me regular text but resend it 5 times. I went in to view the messages and when I backed to today screen it showed still 4 new messages. Went in one more time and that did it. Today screen showed no new messages.

Who knows?

Some, but not all, who use CF03 will have an issue where if someone sends them a long text message it gets split up into multiple parts. That's normal. What isn't normal is when you go in to read the message, only one message gets cleared out at a time.

Example: Say someone sends you a long text message that gets split up into 3 messages. When you go in to read them and then back out to the main screen again, it will still show 2 of them unread. Then if you go back into the messages then back out to the main screen again, it will still show 1 unread message. In other words, every time you go into your messages, it will only clear out one message as 'read' at a time.

What's weird in this whole thing is that this bug doesn't happen to everyone running CF03. What's even weirder is that the fix above works for some and not for others. Sorry if it doesn't help you. It fixed the bug for me!
