HTC_CM_Guardian... not needed unless you're, er, stupid?
I've removed HTC_CM_Guardian from my startup folder.
This little monster runs on boot, and in addition to at boot restoring the sprint CM settings (the connection settings for sprintpcs) it's even MORE EVIL - it stays running, and I guess it slaps those settings back in on a regular basis. This 1) eats ram, and some battery, for no good reason and 2) does way more writes to your internal (flash) store then you need Bottom line, if you think you can trust yourself not to muck with the sprint settings, REMOVE the lnk from \windows\startup and soft reset... say goodby to this useless process. (*burn your custom rom without it and save a few bytes for something else to boot!*) Based on post here: http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/p...-thread-6.html and the fact that some Apaches run fine (telesys?) without HTC_CM_Guardian and the fact that mine's running fine w/o it too ![]() Give it a try, what's the worst thing that can happen?* * if you are worried about it, just move the lnk from \windows\startup to \windows\start menu\programs, where you can manually launch it should you have issues connecting to sprint - that will restore the connection settings for you. |

Thanks mine is gone, more battery and RAM is good no matter how much your saving.

okay, this may be an old bump...
so i removed it from my startup along with poutlook.lnk(is this okay?) what did you guys do after that, point to opendns servers?? if so, how'd you do that? Any performance results or negatives coming back from sprint?? |

the poutlook one is more useful, unless you're not using email. I have used the opendns servers, sometimes they're faster sometimes not.
