Removing the Cube...

I'm currently working on cooking up a ROM for personal use (and if I can get permissions from the theme maker and a couple other people I might release it) and would like to completely remove the cube. I never use it and see no need for it, how would I go about doing this?

Re: Removing the Cube...

someone else can confirm, but delete \Windows\Biotouch.exe

that should do it. may want to just rename it or move it to another folder. will need something other than the standard file explorer to do this, like total commander.

Re: Removing the Cube...

the cube (biotouch.exe) automatically runs on startup, so it takes up a bit of ram. I replaced my biotouch.exe with something much more useful, MusicFlo.

Re: Removing the Cube...

Well I'm talking about removing it completely from the ROM, I'm trying to cook my own and people keep telling me all I have to do is uncheck it in the selections however...There is no cube there to deselect, so I guess I'm missing files even though I downloaded everything I was told I needed.

Re: Removing the Cube...

There are two things to do if you want to completely remove this.

1. Replace the four files, BioTouch.exe, MediaHubMini.exe, AppLauncher.exe, and QuickDial.exe with the 0kb files found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368269

Technically, you don't need these files to remove the cube, but it prevents them running in memory, takes a few MB.

2. Edit this registry value:
HKLM>Software>OEM>TFLOSettings>EnableCube
Set from 1 to 0

And the cube is gone!

This shouldn't have any affect on the other TFlo controls, but you may want to keep the four files available.

First off if you are talking about removing the cube from the oem you need to delete all .brn files and all off the quickdial files and mediahubmini files then you have to remove the registry for the cube DO NOT DELETE BIOTOUCH it does not just operate the cube it has other purposes .... delete mediahubMini applauncher and quickdial disable the cube in the touchflo registry ....

The files to replace these prevent the memory usage, other functions will remain, no sense in using memory. I'm using these files now, scrolling works fine. But, that's why I said the files are best kept.

I looks like that totals up to about 6-7Mb.

I don't use the Cube either and it kind of annoys me when I accidentally swipe my thumb the wrong way and activate it, but is removing it a well tested thing or is this experimental?

Re: Removing the Cube...

I used total commander and it worked just fine.. from 33 34% average to solid 30 now. I did leave the biotouch.exe didn't wanna have any problems. seems much snappier. I never used the cube and disabled it from day one. Very happy
